About Touching Ground

This ongoing online somatic meditation class is an invitation to explore meditation as a living process, not as a singular form or technique.

Each weekly guided practice is designed to help us become familiar with and cultivate ‘meditative moments’— the habit of locating presence throughout our day.

Meditative improvisations allow us to orient to spacious ease, joy, and presence, as embodied qualities already present within us.

Rooted in the Tibetan term gom — “to become familiar with,” frequently mis-translated as “meditation” — we deepen a nourishing felt-sense relationship with our inner world as a bridge to open, relaxed, awareness. We naturally develop the habit of experiencing presence and ease as enduring and underlying aspects of our experience.

Through somatic awareness, simple sounding techniques, poetic contemplations, and deepening layers of breath, we will explore:

  • Gestures of awareness—subtle energetic and physical movements that invite physical ease.

  • Touchstones of presence—simple ways to anchor and ground.

  • The workable mind—how thought, emotion, and sensation can fuel equanimity and insight.

  • Portals of perception—ways of seeing beyond habitual thought.

  • The undercurrent of presence—a deep sense of at-homeness in the world.

Classes begins Wednesday, February 12, 9-9:30 am San Francisco / 11-11:30am Mexico City / 12-12:30pm New York / 5-5:30pm London, and continue weekly, offering an ongoing space to touch ground.
